Cocoa Beach Kayak Manatee Watch Update

Of the many things we look forward to in fall, it is hard to beat the annual gatherings of manatees that congregate in warm waters once the water temps fall below 70 degrees.  Ok, so the mosquitoes are gone too, who wouldn't appreciate that.  But, this is the time of year when we can guide kayak guests to protected waters and interact with dozens of manatees in one trip.  With so few manatees in the wild it is extremely difficult to find and view manatees during the summer season.  So we are very excited when the annual manatee migration to warm water occurs.  They seem to appear out of nowhere and will rest in these protected waters for the next several months.
Today, while guiding several cruise passenger guests on a manatee tour, it dawned on me again, as it does this time every year, that we live in a special place where we can jump in our kayaks and in a matter of moments, be sitting in the water right next to these gentle giants.  This was our first trip this fall where the manatees had gathered in significant numbers.  We watched perhaps up to 2 dozen manatees, several cows with pups, and a couple of behemoths all frolicking around, sunning themselves, and otherwise enjoying each other's company.
We were able to guide a family of 5 today, from age 5 and up, on a cruise out of Baltimore for $170.  This same trip was offered by the cruise line at $90 per person.  We saved our guests $280.  We provided them a very custom itinerary, and didn't have to conform to the rigorous schedule and demands so normal with cruise excursions.  We also were on the water by 9:00, a full 90 minutes before the official cruise excursion, which provided my guests to more time remaining in their day to walk the beach, visit some shops, and explore the area.
If you have plans to visit Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, Melbourne, or Orlando and want to experience kayaking with manatees in their natural setting, please contact us at A1A Beach Rentals.  We'll be happy to set you up with a guided or self-guided outing and make it quite affordable as well.  You can call us anytime at 321-505-7455 and visit us online at www.a1afunrentals.com.
